Ok folks, I promised more information before the July 15th show. The show will be hosted from 66.216.60.107:8000. There will be relay's setup so you can connect to a location closer to you. To connect to the show, you'll need a program capable of streaming audio, like I said in the original post. Winamp, Window's Media Player, and MusicMatch are just a few. Around 7:45 EASTERN time, the server will be turned on. You'll need to "Open Location" and put in the address above. If you do not get a connection, keep trying. The show will begin at 8pm EST.

Dariuas made this oh so special announcment today...In the words of the Great Rafiki (Lion King) 'It is time'. Time once again for another installment of Stratics Radio. Call it AC Radio if you will! That's right, I said AC Radio. But not as you know it. Here my lips and take a glimpse into reality. July 15th, at 8pm EST in the channel #asheron2. Of course you'll be able to listen if you are not in the channel, but you won't get in on questioning Jason Booth, of the Asheron's Call 2 development team. Jason will once again make a vocal appearance, he was the first member of Turbine to call in the legendary AC Radio. As the date draw's closer, more details will be provided. However, if you wish to discuss AC2, or find out more about the upcoming show, please join us on our IRC Network, for full details on how to connect to the IRC server, and the channel #asheron2, please visit http://chat.stratics.com. Also, check back here for further details as the clock count's down to July 15th.
For those who are unsure what a live radio interview is, or how it is done, I will explain. An audio stream is feed to the internet, which is in turn fed into a media player, such as Winamp, or Window's Media Player. Any audio player capable of playing streaming audio will work for the show. To connect to the show, you will be provided with an IP address, from there, you turn up your speakers, and listen. :)

What has happened to AC Radio | |

Well, allow me to explain a bit about the show before I answer that question. When I was speaking with Aesop one day, I thought a Radio show for AC would be the biggest thing since GSA (I recall, I was standing in Metos fighting Iron Golems). That was in early February that the idea first came about. After that day we would dabble with the idea of it. But we would never actually get the show off the ground. When we finally did, in Mid-March, the first stress test had about 20 people, as the second. I was not surprised; I did not expect the number’s to increase, at least not until the shows later. Which this of course did happened. Our later show’s peeked at 205 listeners. This does not include the web hits; Show 3 (If I remember right) had over 1000 downloads. I was very happy. So were those people who helped AC Radio run behind the scenes well, just like anything, eventually people stop doing it. Disco for example? It died quickly. Well, I do not wish the same thing to happen to AC Radio, in my mind, the idea, and the want for such a show is still a very large demand, though people might not express this desire.
After the 13th show, the quality of the show went down the tube. We had an increase in prank calls; we had a decrease in community involvement. So, until I can figure out away to bring the show quality back up to par, AC Radio will be placed on hold. If you have any ideas, please feel free to email me, or use the forums (I will be watching)

| I've decided that to get a better show, with the changes that I am currently making. I will delay the show until the patch has been released. Thus, the show will be Sunday the 27th. This will allow me time to recieve emails from those who said they would explore the patch and submit information on it. I will also attempt to get someone from Turbine to call in. |

It's BACK! After a few weeks of AC radio being off the air - due to holidays and some personal things of my own - AC Radio returns with a vengence at Sunday, 10pm EST! This week we will touch base with some changes that I and Aldaris will be making to AC Radio. I spoke with Allan Maki briefly about getting Turbine to call this show, but they are in a crunch for time. Could this be something big soon? No speculation... but what could be going on? :) We'll see.
AC Radio had a great beginning, but after 19 shows the ball just stopped rolling, so we need to get some push back into that ball. So, a few changes that I will mention. Time Table, what this means is we will divide time up in the show, so each server can have their own period of time to talk about flames, quests, events, what ever.
Next, I will personally be taking one content editor from each server. They will be the person who gets juicy information about each server. There will be one special "patch" editor, who will get as much information about the patch as possible. Each editor will write a segment and email it to me. If you are intrested in this job, please let me know. NOTE: This is not a Stratics job. This is an AC Radio job.
The rest we will discuss during AC Radio.

I’ve gotten a lot of people wondering what happened to the first show, well, as unfortunate as it is, I changed DPS for Winamp, and I am unable to find the settings to ‘save’ the recording. If anyone knows how to do this, please, let me know. I will greatly appreciate it.
What you need to do to listen is find the place in your media player to “Open Location” Or “Open URL” or “Connect to Streaming Audio” then put in is http://66.28.48.200:18692 and hit connect, ok, or what ever. Both show 15, and show 16, are now available for download; I apologize for not getting these up earlier. I have no excuse for not doing so, except laziness on my behalf. Visit the main AC:R Page, using the link on the left menu.
The next two shows will hold vital information about the future of AC Radio. As I begin my trek into real life, changes to the show will be made, as I will be out of service for a few months. Aldaris may take over the show, or a new host all together, but after I complete my basic training and tech school for the Air Force, I will be back as the host. I appreciate everyone who has supported the show over the past 8 months. The show has been very successful and I have had a blast doing it. This is not goodbye yet. I still have 2 shows to do!

UPDATE:See Ken's Letter for lag solutions details.
The 12th AC Radio show has come, and gone. It was a great show; 130 people showed up in the IRC room, and we peaked at 135 listeners. Ken Troop was our special guest. He called in at 11pm, and gave us some insight into Asheron’s Call: Dark Majesty and some personal info - such as how he came to work at Turbine and what his day to day job calls for. In addition to Ken Troop calling in, we had some pretty interesting calls, ranging from people TRYING to be funny, to people who had major concerns about the lag issues currently plaguing Dereth. Ken reassured everyone that by Tuesday of this week, the lag should be taken care of. The lag and packet loss is apparently caused by the gear fix and network code changes.
The show is around 24 meg’s to download, I’ve upped the bit rate of the show, to better the quality, and from now on, I’m going to do “Pre-Show Tunes”, so if you’ve got a special request, let me know ahead of time. You can download the show in it’s entirety at The AC Radio Page

During this show Sean Huxter, an artist from Turbine, called in and gave us some insight into how graphics have evolved since beta, and some of the work he has been involved in at Turbine. Allan “Orion” Maki the Community guy for Turbine called in with some interesting things to talk about, such as his opinions on the community, to the upcoming Comp buyer. The main topic for the show was supposed to be newbies, and it was for the most part. Brisk called in to give his views on Gear, and fantasy V.S reality games. Rundy representing the DarkTide community called into rant about various things. All and all the show went well.

I uploaded the Show last night. I freaked out when I found out that the first part of the show was missing becuase of the poweroutage. The show was more based on E3. Speaking of E3. We will be having a special show Thursday, May 17th, at a time not yet known 'live' from E3. A few of the people here at Stratics are going to E3, and they've offered to call in. So, this might be more of a widly listened to show, becuase AC2, and diffrent MMORPG's will be talked about. Sunday Night marked the third Asheron's Call Radio show. We peaked at 90 listeners on the two relays that were active for the entire show. AC Radio Second Show | |

| Last night the second AC radio show took place, it was a complete success. We had two dev's call in: Jason Booth; and William Mauritzen - a graphics designer for AC2. William gave us some insight as to how the technical side of graphics work. The show lasted about an hour and 10 min. He also gave his opinion on some of the 3d party programs that have been released for AC, such as Decal or the new UI's (User Interfaces) found at The Pale White Horse website. At the peek of the show we had 75 listeners. The first stress, we peeked about 25 listeners, the second stress, about 30, the first show we had around 45, and now we've reached 75. Maybe the next show we'll breach 100? Only time can tell. The show can be found here zipped, or here as an mp3. The show will now air every Sunday night at 10pm EST! The first real show went quite well. It lasted about 90 min again, though since I changed the bitrate, the size of it dropped. 90 min during the stress test was 38 megs, now its 11 megs. Again, Jason Booth called in, and we took questions, he asked if anyone has information about a specific bug which makes an item disappear completly to email him

Announcing the first REAL AC radio show, the prior two where stress tests. Sunday April 22nd at 10pm EST (day will soon change) will start a hopefully long life-span of the radio show. It will work basicly the same as the first two, but I will have relay's setup, so you can get better connection, and I've dropped the bitrate on the trasmission to better suit those who's internet connection peaks at 4k a second downloads :P.

Aesop and Myself were thinking one day, and it came to us to do an AC Radio. After speaking with Auz, its gotten under-way, this will be this will be the last stress test , once the last is done, the show's will become regular.
What does AC Radio do?
Well, the intentions are as follows.
1. Bring the hottest news about the community, and what’s going on as far as events/quests on each server.

| The test tonight went ok, nothing really exciting happened. We just had Jason Booth an AC developer call in. You know, nothing exciting. The show lasted for about an hour and a half. We had a lot of people call in, more then I would ever have dreamed of. The focal point of the show though was when Jason Booth called in. It was a major honor to speak with him. You can download a copy of it, its 37 meg's in MP3 format by following this link. The show was a great success. The show is now a weekly show. We are deciding what DAY’s to do them, but the time is still set in stone, 10pm EST. It’s late for people over-seas, I understand, and kinda early for those on the west coast. That’s why I keep a recording of it, and upload it for download. Hopefully we’ll see more people at the next show. |

I know when it gets done with stress-testing it will become more popular, but a stress-test can not be done with 5 connections, thats no stress. Someone said to me: "you should be more dedicated; i might not show up next week just on account that you may decide "not to have a show" ". I will say, this is entirely false, I went out and purchessed a new Microphone, and a new speaker-phone for the Radio show, so I am dedicated, and I do want to do this, but when techknowledge decides not to let me do it, there's not much I can do. I do applogize to anyone who was looking forward to tonight's broadcast, but I will do one NEXT Sunday April 15th(relay permitting) at 10pm EST. Tell your friends! |

The final test has arrived. Sunday April 8th, the last Asheron's Call Radio Stress Test will take place. Again, it will be at 10pm est. This weeks test will be similar to last, however, I am going to feed heavier things though the stream to see how well they hold up. As well as have a few call-ins. If you'd like to join us Sunday, you'll need an IRC client, such as mIRC, or you can use the java clients provided by Stratics here

The stress test tonight for AC Radio went rather well. About 45-50 people were in attendance, and for an impromptu script, I think it went good. I recorded it, and uploaded it so you can download it, and listen to. Click here to download it. It is 7.6mb, about 45 min of airtime. We will have another stress test at an undetermined time/date. But I will notify you when that happens.

Tomorrow, Sunday March 25th, at 10pm EST, a stress test will be held for an up-coming AC Radio. I will be hosting it, the information on how to connect will be provided at that time. Though, it does require a media player such as Windows Media Player, found at Microsoft. We need as many people to attend as possible. If you wish to be a part of this "beta" stage of the radio show, please be in the IRC channel. The information will be posted at that time on how to connection.
A little about what AC Radio is:
Aesop and Myself were thinking one day, and it came to us to do an AC Radio. After speaking with Auz, its gotten under-way, this will be the first, of 2 stress tests held, once the last is done, the show's will become regular.
What does AC Radio do?
Well, the intentions are as follows.
1. Bring the hottest news about the community, and what’s going on as far as events/quests on each server.
2. Information about upcoming patches, polls,
3. Some call in time, so people can shout out to the AC world! Maybe we can get some people from Turbine to call in and have their voice heard for the very first time.
