Being such a big fan of the Pencil & Paper D&D, I did have my concerns about DDO. For one, I was a bit leary of the fact that they had chosen a fairly unknown world called "Eberron" (I was frankly surprised they hadn't chosen the much more popular Forgotten Realms world). However, after reading "The City of Towers" by Keith Baker, I realized exactly WHY they had chosen it - because it was so much cooler in a steampunk sort of way than anything else out there. Not only that, but it had unique cultures, races, magic, monsters, and environments that were ripe for Turbine to be a part of developing over the coming years (unlike the fully developed worlds that so many other games had exhaustively covered already). It wasn't long before I had accepted the ideas behind Eberron and learned to appreciate the new world that DDO would be taking place in. More than appreciate actually - one that I now prefer, even when playing a tabletop campaign.

In the last month we saw King Varicci took his assault to the next level. Through some form of dark design, King Varicci was able to acquire and use a new type of weapon to kill Antius Blackmoor. What will Queen Elyssa's reaction to this be? Will she send out an immediate force to seek revenge? Or will she be too upset at the loss of someone so important to her?

We have three new screenshots for your Viewing Pleasure here at Stratics. They are taken by the teleporters of each Race base.

These teleporters will speed up travel between the distant locations within your region of Novus. Later, players will get to travel on transport ships to other continents in real time (though no flying them yourself for now).The Cora screenshot also has one of the Summons behind her, protecting her from any naughty business.

If an unfriendly nation takes control of your port, you won’t be able to operate nearly as efficiently, which can cut deeply into your revenue. Because of this economic impact, plantations and other producing structures will be even more meaningful in the strategic sense than a typical MMO home, which in turn makes it vital for all players to protect their ports, not just the navy.

Using the transport ship as a conduit, the Arcane virus quickly spread throughout Earth, leaving no stone unturned, and no creature untouched. The contagion was unlike any virus discovered or created by man. Humans on earth took on the traits of the infected researchers, killing each other and finally firing nuclear weapons toward the human colonies on Mars and Saturn.

About 2 o'clock or so the call came out that Viamontians were invading Glendon Wood. Many guildmates and other residents of Wintersebb went to defend the town.

The enemy forces consisted of Viamontian Hands and Lords, Bloated and Insatiable Eaters. They brought along their tame mages as well later.

We fought steady for a good hour and a bit more, then finally we managed to push them back up the hill, east in town. At 2:50 we defeated the forces!
