Play Issues All Worlds Other than SC and TD Are Being RestartedReturn to TopSubmit News!Discuss This Article
Play Issues - 7:30 PM EST. Posted By: Guildenstern

From this thread, Ibn stated:

All worlds other than SC and TD being restarted ASAP.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In response to severe lag and other server issues, we are restarting Darktide, Frostfell, Harvestgain, Leafcull, Morningthaw, Verdantine, and Solclaim ASAP.

We expect these worlds to be back online by 6:45PM PDT / 9:45PM EDT / 1:45AM UTC.

There is currently no expectation of any server-wide rollbacks, although individual players may experience brief rollbacks depending on their state.

We apologize for this unexpected outage.

Addendum to the LttP

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Players who have Tinkering skills trained as of the October event, and who wish to receive their free Gems of Forgetfulness, should be sure to leave an open slot in their main pack for each Gem. For example, if you have two Tinkering skills trained and plan to untrain them both, be sure that you have two free open slots on your main pack the last time that you log off before the October event.

Dark Majesty Asheron's Call CoC, EULA and Privacy Policy updatedReturn to TopSubmit News!Discuss This Article
Dark Majesty - 3:59 PM EST. Posted By: Guildenstern

As we continue migrating Asheron's Call off of Microsoft's hardware and off of the MSN Gaming Zone, we have made updates to the Code of Conduct, End User License Agreement, and Privacy Policy.

I want to stress that, particularly with regards to the Code of Conduct, there are NO ENFORCEMENT CHANGES. Nothing that was previously permitted in-game is now a violation, nothing that was previously a violation is now permitted. This is simply clarification of some points, and the addition of other other points that were previously only enforced via the MSN Gaming Zone Code of Conduct.

You can read these documents here:
Privacy Policy
EULA
Code of Conduct

Community News Reminder Emergency Maintenance This MorningReturn to TopSubmit News!Discuss This Article
Community News - 7:39 AM EST. Posted By: Guildenstern

The servers appear to be up but here is a reminder regarding the upcoming Emergency Maintenance taking place this morning. The maintenance should start in approximately a half hour so be sure to be logged out somewhere safe! All servers except SC and TD are going down, so if you play on either of those two you are safe to disregard this notice.

Friday October 1, 6:00AM - 8:00AM PDT

All worlds other than Solclaim and Thistledown will be brought down for maintenance. We will be taking steps to improve back-end system performance.

This maintenance is in response to growing reports of lag and other issues since Wednesday. We apologize for the short notice.

Play Issues - 10:07 PM EST. Posted By: Guildenstern

Wintersebb appears to have just crashed - there is no word yet if it's a local event or the entire server actually did crash. Also, no word as yet on any possible rollback. We will update you as soon as something official is posted, as to the state of the server.

Leafcull also seems to be up but possibly suffering the same problems as WE - again nothing official yet.

Also, users are reporting lag issues in allegiance chat on Frostfell and other servers as well: here. Ibn mentioned this in the thread, linked above:

Re: severe lag

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first GDI+ exploit worms have started hitting the net, so I would expect Internet congestion to start spiking over the weekend.

Our engineers are continuing to investigate however -- the fact that we're seeing so many complaints from FF and LC is very worrisome.

So there may be multiple factors here.

(Incidentally -- if you haven't patched your PC against the GDI+ exploit, do so immediately. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Click here for more info: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-028.mspx)

Good Tuesday Morning! Here's the weekly "Day in the Life of Fist de Yuma"!

Lacking information
Cliff Bowman
Blackmire Four

I had three people in my fellow. There was also an allegiance member trying to catch up. The main fellow was starting to run off, so I had no option but to follow.

The group was running across the Dires, but I had no idea where they were going. I just kept then in sight. I was amazed to see a new monster. Big and ugly they are.

I saw what looked like a temple, but the group ran past it. A short time later, they reversed their direction and ran back. One of my fellow members was having trouble finding the temple. I give him the location, but it did not seem to help him. It turned out that he had a land block problem, and really could not see the temple, even when it was right in front of him.

Community News - 6:56 PM EST. Posted By: Guildenstern

Wednesday morning at 7:30AM PDT / 10:30AM EDT / 2:30PM UTC, the AC forums and website will be brought down for maintenance. This maintenance is to improve performance and prevent major slowdowns such as were seen last Wednesday.

The maintenance is expected to last two hours. However, once the site goes back up it may take some users longer to be able to access it due to DNS propagation issues that are outside of Turbine's control.

Game Patch September Known IssuesReturn to TopSubmit News!Discuss This Article
Game Patch - 8:06 AM EST. Posted By: Guildenstern

Ibn posted this thread in Turbine's Announcement Forum:

September event Known Issues

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two known issues at this time:

* Lightning Bolt Scrolls are currently using Frost Bolt scroll icons, they should be using their own unique lightning bolt scroll icons.

* The images being used for the moons are not correct. When making changes to cut down on the amount of time that it rains in Dereth, older moon images were put back into the game.

Both issues should be resolved in October.

Play Issues And the Worlds Are Up!Return to TopSubmit News!Discuss This Article
Play Issues - 2:52 AM EST. Posted By: Guildenstern

An update as of 2:40AM EST - and the worlds are up!

OK, right now things are looking positive. We haven't had any subserver or landblock crashes on any of the worlds. We're still keeping our fingers crossed though.

The team on the east coast is heading to bed now, but if there are any issues before tomorrow morning Ops has instructions to page us.

Thank you all for being patient with us during this downtime. I was in-game in Al-Arqas on Leafcull as we were watching it, and the kind words from folks there were very much appreciated.

Hopefully I'll be able to post more post-mortem details, including what we're doing to prevent any incidents like this from happening again, within the near future.

*UPDATE* 10:01PM EST, another update from Ibn:

We are continuing to work on server stability issues. No new status beyond that and unfortunately no ETA.

We thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

Status as of 9:26PM EST:
Leafcull came up and immediately began crashing again. We are holding off on bringing the rest of the worlds back up pending further investigation.

We've word that Ibn updated the Downtime thread on Turbine's Announcement board once again with the above quote. As soon as anything new is known, we'll post it. :)

We believe we have isolated the issue that was causing the server instability, and we have a fix. We're uploading it to the servers now.

I don't have a specific ETA yet, but I would estimate we could begin bringing the worlds up within an hour or two.
